We took the number 11 blue bus (Porcelan) from the city bus stop. You pay the conductor 40 Lek per journey. We told the driver where we were going so the conductor told us when to get off. It is the last stop, which is for the Cable Car, but we saw it as we stopped just passed it. You can pay Lek or Euro cash only I think. We paid for the dual ticket, Bunkart 1 and 2 it is cheaper and lasts for 3 days, if you want to do both. It was very interesting, and loads to see. Worth a visit, if you want to learn more.

The blue eyes itself is pretty but not as big as we expected. There's a paved path up the hill (approx 30 min walk) which is all right, but on the way back we discovered the hiking trail around the lake (30-45 min) which is a much nicer trail and also leads to the blue eye! Go to the right just before the entrance and start you trail next to the bee hives.

Worth a visit. It is necessary to plan enough time to experience and explore everything. From the Berat Castle, there is a beautiful view of the surrounding area.

It’s a shame because people had scratched and vandalised the inside of the carts so it was really difficult to get any good pictures of the view. Needs a lot of maintenance on the inside. £14 for a return last one goes back 5pm /-Dajti express

A large square, at the heart of the city, it is definitely worth spending time here. Many attractions are close by, including Opera House, Bunkart 2, Et'hem Bey moqsue, Pyramid and Natural History Museum. I am told the History museum is closed for renovations, as of March 2024, but I am not sure how long it is closed for. The Blloku is close by and I think it is a very useful point to get your bearings to walk around the city.

This is a must visit if you are visiting Tirana. This museum does a wonderful job of shedding light on a very dark period of time for Albania. It’s so interesting to see the difference between the past once you step inside the bunker, and the present when you exit it. Highly recommend.

Impressive, worth visiting, excellent view over Skodra, its surroundings and the lake.
Very small parking at the castle, in busy periods road blocked by parked cars. Better park down and walk, around 7-8 minutes.

The castle has Byzantine origins but much of the impressive building work now seen was carried out by Ali Pacha Tepelena, the local Albanian ruler in the early part of the 19th century. Entry is 400 lek, which excludes the military museum available at an extra charge and it represents good value. As building work was carried out in a later era, it is in much better condition that other castles in the country.
We were there well over two hours excluding the optional extra museum. Although there are information boards scattered around the castle that add enough information to understand what you are seeing, much of the fun is simply wandering around this vast complex, a torch is needed to explore some of the vaults although some of the deeper ones where the terrain is rough have now been fenced off.
Apart from the underground vaults, the other main attraction are the spectacular views from the top of the castle that provide outstanding views over the village, Drinos valley and the Lunxheria mountains beyond. The walk from end to end is one kilometre and because of its size it never feels crowded despite numerous tour groups.
It’s scale and condition is truly impressive.

A small mosque in the south east corner of Skanderberg Square. You must remove shoes before entering, and ladies need to wear a head scarf and once inside, it is small, and can be done in 10/15 minutes. Makes a good picture and looks nice when lit up at night.

We did a full circumnavigation of the Grand Park & lake this afternoon. Beautiful green space in Tirana city centre, showcasing oodles of wildlife, we saw geese, ducks, moor hens and even. Kingfisher. This place is a real credit to the Tirana city council, it’s clean, well laid out, and has plenty to do for the whole family.

    Highly recommend.
